![The Palo Alto High School Girls and Boys Swim and Dive team are preparing for the California Interscholastic Federation state championships following their second Central Coast Section win in a row Saturday and Sunday at the Santa Clara Swim Club. According to sophomore Blake Wang, the supportive environment at CCS provides motivation in advancing and doing well. “I went to CCS last year as well, and it was a really competitive atmosphere,” Wang said. “There are faster swimmers to race compared to dual meets [swim meets between two teams]. ![As Palo Alto continues to struggle through a storm that began Monday night, neighborhoods throughout the city, including scenes on Emerson Street, are suffering from the damage of fallen trees and powerlines caused by the storm. ![Junior Arial Hong collects candy from a teacher’s classroom during Palo Alto High School’s Trick-or-Treat activity during lunch on Friday to promote Halloween spirit as well as the Mental Health Matters program. Many underclassmen have yet to experience spirit on Paly campus, including Halloween festivities. ![Assembly Bill 104 passed in the state of California to remove the numerical value grades usually have during a normal school year. Paly’s College Counselor, Sandra Cernobori, has witnessed many Paly students wishing to alter sufficient grades to build a better GPA-based college application.
