During today's fourth Spirit Week lunch rally in Palo Alto High School's Big Gym, the seniors and sophomores faced each other in Cup Game. According to senior Sunday Ahn, she was certain that seniors were going to win the game. "I had confidence in Max [the senior winner] to win the game," Ahn said. "It was fun to watch the very close up battle between them."

Spirit Week floats have been covered Monday due to expectations for rain during the start of week at palo Alto High School. Freshman Kimberly Li said she is disappointed the float building has been put off. “I’m disappointed because I was going to go to float building,” Li said. “But because of the rain, it has been cancelled, so I won’t be able to go.”

Geometry and Precalculus teacher Quinn Basewitz guides her students through the rules of a review game. Basewitz, in her first year of teaching at Palo Alto High School, said she is enjoying her time teaching and coaching field hockey at Paly. “It’s [Paly] been really welcoming, and it's a collaborative department, so I've had a lot of support,” Basewitz said. “I really enjoy getting to know students in class, and then I'm also coaching field hockey, so it's been fun to get to know students outside of the classroom.”

Palo Alto volunteers sort trash collected from Adobe Creek into buckets during Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday. According to Kirsten Druve, the Palo Alto site coordinator, the Santa Clara Valley Water district removes trash from creeks by providing volunteers with supplies. “The goal is to keep trash out of creeks and the ocean side,” Druve said. “We organize volunteers to come here and we give them supplies so that they can clean the creeks for the morning.”

According to Manager Suang, the efficiency in their kitchen makes it good choice for people who come in and have a limited time to eat. “Some people are at school, or at work, and they come over during lunchtime; they only have a limited time, and we can make it very fast for them," Suang said.

Palo Alto High School's Class of 2025 celebrates their graduation this afternoon at the Viking Stadium. According to Principal Brent Kline, the graduating class has grown and accomplished much to be proud of. “As I look at you today, graduates, I see students who have grown, not just in knowledge, but in kindness, creativity and courage,” Kline said in his speech.

Nick the Greek offers a spacious and open interior. According to restaurant manager Angie Holguin, the team chose Palo Alto for the city's energy and high speed vibe. “It was [opened] in this location, Palo Alto, specifically because it's more of a suburban location,” Holguin said. “This area is more fast-paced.”

This is the view students see as they step out of their high school classes at Foothill College, where Palo Alto Middle College High School is based. The campus offers a peaceful setting that contrasts with the pace of traditional high school. According to Lily-Rose Cheung, PAMC sophomore, her school's flexibility is one of its biggest draws. “I love that I can pick afternoon high‑school classes because I’m not a morning person, and choose all‑online college courses when I’m traveling,” Cheung said.

Students crowd around the Taiwan table on the Palo Alto High School Quad at lunch, on Thursday, their plates holding food from 27 different cultures and countries, including mini boba drinks representing Taiwanese traditions. According to sophomore Meghna Singh, she enjoyed the delicious food and learning about the many different cultures. “I'm really happy that the school … is doing it for the first time and I thought that food was absolutely divine,” Singh said. “It was really fun to see all the different cultures and different types of food.”

The "extra small group" performers from the Palo Alto Dance teams' jazz/contemporary piece "Eight" points to their first-place award in United Spirit Associations National Competition March 23 in Anaheim, California. According to dance team sophomore officer Karin Blumenfeld, the pressure of continuing the team winning streak was a standout moment at nationals. "A big mindset this year coming off of two wins in the previous year after not having won for a very long time was the expectation on us to win," Blumenfeld said. "There have been so many years where we haven't [won] and we were definitely super nervous, but we pulled through."

According to restaurant owner Stephanie Zhu, she created a large menu with many options to bring light to all of Japanese cuisine. "I want to bring back all this Japanese cuisine," Zhu said. "We have appetizers, noodles and anything for full families."
