After months of canceled practices due to the pandemic, Palo Alto High School students slowly began to return to playing sports this semester. For the past few weeks, Paly has been making it possible for some athletes to start playing their sport again. But as California moves into the purple COVID-19 tier, all school sports have been suspended until further notice.

Corbin Dodd, an Ethnic Studies and AP Seminar teacher at Palo Alto High School, said that Austin's separation from the district surprised him and his colleagues.
