The Palo Alto High School track and field boys’ team (4-1) battled for a 69-58 loss while the Paly girls (2-3) fell, 97-30, to Los Gatos High School 3:15 p.m. last Thursday at Paly.
According to senior captain and sprinter Anna Dukovic, the team fared well despite the loss.
“Overall I think we performed well considering how difficult [of] an opponent Los Gatos is,” Dukovic said. “They [the Los Gatos Wildcats] have a lot of really talented varsity athletes, and I thought we did a good job of running our race even if we didn’t take the win.”
Sophomore Titi Bolarinwa stood our in particular due to her outstanding performance, placing first in the girls’ varsity 400-meter race, according to Dukovic.
“Titi Bolarinwa had a really good meet,” Dukovic said. “She raced really well in the 400.”
The track team will face off against Lynbrook High School in its last league meet of the season at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Lynbrook.
“Our goal is to keep practicing and hopefully finish up strong at the next meet,” junior long distance runner Leyla Gokcek said.
The top three athletes of each event will move on to compete at the Central Coast Section meet, according to Gokcek.
