Palo Alto High School students walk towards the football field after a fire alarm disrupted class during 5th period on Wednesday afternoon. Palo Alto High School junior Andrew Shih, in addition to many other students, will have his testing schedule impacted by the drill in the upcoming week. "I was upset that the fire alarm went off in class because I'm going to end up having to take it [his AP Biology test] Friday, but I already have an APUSH [AP United States History] test," Shih said.

A young woman holds up her sign, which reads "viva la mujer", or "long live the woman", as she marches. Many marches had signs in spanish, and signs that supported immigrants' rights, particularly the young people participating in the threatened DACA program [Differed Action for Childhood Arrival], which grants immigrants who came into the country at a young age rights like a social security number and the ability to attain a work permit. The program is threatened under the Trump administration, which pledged to end the program in October of 2017; the government is currently shut down as a result of the Democratic Party being unwilling to vote in favor of an extension without provisions protecting DACA being put in place.
