Sweeping the floor and claiming a victory, the Palo Alto High School girls' basketball team (9-5, 3-0) defeated Gunn High School (2-11, 0-4) during Paly's first matchup with the rivals in the Peery Family Center last Saturday.
After years of commutes to distant gyms even for home games, Palo Alto High School basketball players and fans will finally be able to experience a cross-town rivalry game against Gunn High School on Paly campus.
Saturday night's game is one the Palo Alto Vikings boys' basketball team (18-3, 9-0) is hoping to forget soon. Nothing seemed to go right for the Vikings; shots didn't fall, rebounds just out of reach, and calls didn't go their way.
On Saturday, the Vikings (17-2, 8-0) head down Middlefield Road to take on the Menlo-Atherton Bears (14-4, 6-1) at 6 p.m. The Bears present the toughest opponent for the Vikings since their last loss versus at the Saint Francis Lancers (15-4, 6-3) on Dec. 30th.
