Palo Alto High School’s varsity lacrosse teams will be competing in the second annual “Stick it 2 Stigma” game at 11 a.m. Saturday May 20, at the lacrosse field.
The event is hosted by Paly’s Let’s Bring Change 2 Mind club, as well as the boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams, according to club President Lia Salvatierra.
While the game usually featured boys’ in traditional girls’ lacrosse attire and vice versa, this will be the second year in which the event features speech and mental health trivia during half time in an effort to educate the attendees.
“The Stick it 2 Stigma game is a way to incorporate both the guys and girls teams into a fun event that we can use to promote mental health awareness,” Salvatierra said.
Salvatierra hopes to continue the discussion surrounding mental health, and believes that the game is one way to do so.
“Athletic teams are really powerful groups and if we can inspire the conversation of mental health within them we can help change the community,” Salvatierra said.
