Interested in competing in a tasty challenge tomorrow night? If so, the Palo Alto Teen Advisory Board’s second annual Cupcake Wars may be the place for you.
Cupcake Wars will be held at the Mitchell Park Teen Center from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m, and admission is free.
Throughout three rounds of competition, participants will be tasked with decorating cupcakes for three separate themes, one theme per round, according to Palo Alto High School junior Nikki Merkle-Raymond. Judges will then evaluate the cupcakes, and winners will take home a mystery prize. All participants get to eat their cupcakes, according to Merkle-Raymond.
Despite the competitive aspect of the night, member of the Teen Advisory Board, Merkle-Raymond emphasizes an alternative motive for the event.
“The goal of the event is to bring people together,” Merkle-Raymond said. “We hope people from all grades and schools in the community will come and meet people.”
While themes per decorating round may vary, the night will highlight a Valentine’s Day motif, according to Merkle-Raymond.
There are no alternative food options for those with allergies, but Merkle-Raymond still encourages those students to come out and enjoy the competition.
The Teen Advisory Board is comprised of Palo Alto teens, who plan free, engaging local events for teens. According to its Facebook page, TAB aims to further connect the Palo Alto community by connecting teens to other community members, developing programs and encouraging teen involvement through events such as Cupcake Wars.
