Palo Alto High School’s Prom will be at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, according to an Associated Student Body announcement at brunch today on the football field at the Winter Rally.
Prom will be on Saturday, April 22, this year, according to senior class vice president Natalie Maloney.
“We were given a couple of choices, and we decided to go with the Exploratorium,” Maloney said. “Having all of the exhibits open while the dance is going on is going to be really cool because in addition to dancing and eating, they [the students] can go around the exhibits and look and play with all of the cool things that they have.”
The Exploratorium is a “public learning laboratory exploring the world through science, art, and human perception,” according to its website.
According to junior class president Jaiveer Sandhu, last year’s junior and sophomore ASB officers chose the location in May of 2016.
“The Exploratorium has a lot of exciting things inside of the actual museum, so it’s exciting to walk around,” Sandhu said. “There will be a lot of activities for the students to engage in.”
Senior Derek Schoenberger says that revealing the prom location was exciting, pumping students up for what will unfold.
“I’m excited that the venue is a more creative location than a formal one like City Hall and those that have happened in the past,” Schoenberger said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the exhibits, but mostly the beer goggles.”
