The sophomores have high hopes for Spirit Week after outperforming the seniors in a lunch rally game today.
The theme of the Day Four was “Generation Day,” in which each grade dressed as a certain age group. Freshmen dressed as toddlers, sophomores dressed as teeny boppers, juniors as sophisticates and seniors as senior citizens.
The lunch rally featured two new games, “Pool Rings” and “Name That Tune.” Contestants in “Pool Rings” attempted to throw inflated tubes around their partner’s neck in a one-minute time period. Students competing in “Name That Tune” listened to a variety of songs, and judges awarded the most points to the first group who guessed the song correctly.
The sophomores placed first in “Pool Rings,” narrowly beating the seniors, while the juniors and freshmen tied for third.
Junior Melissa Cheng says that the juniors’ efforts are not paying off.
“It’s frustrating because a ton of people are working extremely hard coming up with creative cheers and signs, but we’re still behind because we’ve been doing pretty bad in the games,” Cheng said.
On the other hand, sophomores have high hopes for the rest of Spirit Week, according to sophomore Julie Cornfield.
“Our class has a ton of spirit and a lot of determination,” Cornfield said. “As long as people stay as positive and as passionate as we have been, I think we’ll definitely continue to succeed.”
“Name That Tune” results will be revealed later tonight, along with the overall scores.
