Paly sophmore Misha Beggs and senior Sophia Wong review their scripts for their One-Act performance. Paly junior Heloise Dumas is also acting in another One-Act, called the Y-Factor. Im acting in the Y-Factor, which is a sproof of various singing competition shows, except all the contestants are really bad, Dumas said.

For the first time every, Palo Alto High School stage tech is behind the scenes of fully online theater productions. After weeks of preparation, stage tech team is hosting “Clue,” “Murder by Poe,” and “She Kills Monsters” via Zoom. The new virtual setting presents many challenges but also produces opportunities for creative adjustments, according to junior and assistant director Maya Mazer-Hoofien. “It was a little frustrating, but we made it work,” Mazer-Hoofien said. “We’re more confident with the virtual space, and we get so much input from each other.” Graphic: Kabir Advani.

Theater teacher Sarah Thermond enters her first year at Palo Alto High School with plans to direct virtual performances in the fall due to school being moved online. Thermond said she heard about the open position from recently retired Paly theater teacher Kathleen Woods. “I happen to know Kathleen Woods, Thermond said.
