The National Forensics League is honoring Palo Alto High School debate coach Jennie Savage with the Diamond Award, the highest honor for debate coaches, according to a prepared statement released Thursday.
Savage and five other coaches around the nation received the award, which “recognizes a professional career that combines excellence and longevity,” the statement said.
“I think that it [the award] really puts Paly on the map in terms of being an established team and a presence in the NFL,” Savage said in the statement. “It is a huge milestone for Paly’s Speech and Debate program.”
Savage will receive special recognition for the award at the NFL National Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., next June.
