Palo Alto High School’s sports magazine, The Viking, has taken a leap into the digital world by launching its own website devoted entirely to sports.
The website features a scoreboard, calendar of sports games, full-length coverage of games, feature stories and more.
“It’s a great evolution for this sports magazine,” The Viking adviser Ellen Austin said of the new website.
Members of The Viking had been interested in hosting their own content on a separate website for a while, though they only recently purchased the domain name and created the site using WordPress.
“At the beginning of the year the editors talked about launching a website,” said George Brown, editor-in-chief of the The Viking. “We all agreed that it was a good idea, but never got around to it.”
The quantity of content that The Viking released this semester provided the impetus for the creation of the site, according to Brown.
The Viking, which has previously published stories on The Paly Voice, will become more autonomous with the creation of the website, according to Brown.
“This gives Viking a home of its own,” Brown said.
The Viking co-editor Will Glazier is excited about the website.
“It’s all sports all the time,” Glazier said.
