After cheers, stomps and roars echoed at lunch today throughout Palo Alto High School’s Big Gym, seniors currently stand in the lead with 5,600 points.
The rally kicked off with the classic cheer, “We got spirit, yes we do! We got spirit, how about you?”
The main events of the rally were a Ring Toss and Connect 4 game, which seniors and juniors won respectively.
According to junior class president Kai Bunger-Tang, he was thrilled by the juniors’ strong start to Spirit Week.
“I’m super excited and our energy is already great,” Bunger-Tang said. “I hope the juniors keep it up. I know this year is pretty tough academically, but I really hope to see a lot of juniors out here still celebrating Spirit Week.”
According to freshmen class senator Diya Contractor, the rally was a great experience and she expects the freshmen to grow more confident as the week progresses.
“The energy was great and we’ll [freshmen] will get a lot more used to it throughout the week and we’ll have a lot of fun,” Contractor said.
Sophomore Ela Aba said she enjoys joining her classmates in cheers and is looking forward to seeing the sophomores perform well in upcoming rallies.
“My favorite part of rallies is doing cheers with the class,” Aba said. “I’m so hyped and I’m ready for what’s coming up. I’m excited to see the sophomores winning.”
According to Bunger-Tang, Associated Study Body spent time testing and planning the games, so the rally went smoothly.
“There was a lot of planning,” Bunger-Tang said. “We [ASB] plan the games and we test them out on the bleachers during our ASB class.”
Currently, the Spirit Week scoreboard is as follows:
5,600 pts for seniors
4,700 pts for sophomores
4,100 pts for juniors
3,900 pts for freshmen
