Robotics Team expanding to include Art Team

Palo Alto High School’s Robotics Team plans to expand to include an art team with subdivisions of animation, graphic design, sketching and storytelling, according to graphic design teacher Brett Griffith, who will supervise the new group.

Animation Captain senior Griffin Bajor is creating the team to bring a creative opportunity to students across campus. The art team will be an extension of the previous animation aspects already included in the robotics program. While the different sections are meant to be specialized areas, members can still be part of multiple sections, according to Bajor.

“Many people knew about the Robotics Team, but the audience that knew about it [the animation team] was significantly smaller,” Bajor said.

Robotics coach Chris Kuszmaul is supportive of Bajor’s initiative.

“The robotics team is one of the most student-lead teams in the country,” Kuszmaul said, who added that the new art team will help “[students] learn the full span of things that are available.”

Bajor’s decision to add the art team was agreed upon by the other students. He added that everyone has been incredibly supportive.

The art team will meet Mondays at lunch and will also meet with the Robotics Team Thursday at lunch.
