Palo Alto High School’s Theater Department’s production of “Pride and Prejudice”, the department’s final large production of the year, opens tomorrow at 7:30 p.m in the Haymarket Theater.

“Pride and Prejudice” tells the story of Elizabeth Bennett and her four sisters as they grow up expected to fulfill their roles as women at the turn of the 19th century.

Forty-three  students act in this play, making it one of the largest productions Paly’s Theater Department has ever done, according to the department’s website.

Students in the play are excited about the quality of this production, according to junior Molly Mackris, who plays Kitty Bennett.

“I love Paly’s version of Pride and Prejudice because we are really true to the time period,” Mackris said. “The sets are beautiful, the costumes are beautiful and our mannerisms are accurate to the time period.”

Junior Cara Kienitz, who plays Lydia Bennett, agrees with Mackris.

“I also love doing the British dialect because it’s a good challenge,” Kienitz said. “Everyone should come see it because it’s a great story and I think it’s going to be well-performed.”

Students involved with the production are excited for people to see the dedication put into this particular show.

“Students and other members of the community should come see the show because we’ve worked really hard and it would be great to have support for the Paly thespians,” Mackris said.

Tickets are $7 for students and seniors, and $10 for adults.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m on Feb 28, March 1, March 6, March 7, and March 8 in the Haymarket Theater, 50 Embarcadero Road.
