The Palo Alto High School boy’s basketball team (1-2) will play its fourth non-league game at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Bellarmine College Prepatory School in San Jose against Leland High School (3-2).
After winning their first game, the Vikings lost two in a row at the Piedmont Hills Tournament last week. Senior Matt Fogarty averaged seven points and six rebounds per game over his first three games. Senior guard Noah Philips scored a team high 16 points in their tournament opener against Silver Creek.
Leland is sitting at a 3-2 overall record and is coming off a loss against Los Altos High School.
Philips addressed the last two losses and the team’s game plan for this upcoming week.
“We were up going into the fourth quarter in both of our losses,” Phillips said. “But we had trouble executing our offense against full court press. This week we are stressing transition offense — we are not very big and transition is a great way to get easy baskets. We are also working on team defense, things like making sure we talk on defense.”
