Local police are investigating a Palo Alto High School campus break-in, which resulted in shattered windows and missing items, according to Principal Phil Winston.

Someone broke a window in the Tower Building and stole several items over the weekend, Winston explained. He added that police are currently investigating the root cause of the incidence.

“The police were here all morning,” Winston said. “On Saturday morning, the principal of the adult school was in at about 9 a.m. and she noticed a broken window out near the patio [of the Tower Building]. She called the police, they came out, and secured the building. This morning, we discovered that there were some items missing from the Tower Building.”

Winston noted that the Tower Building is equipped with an alarm and that the stolen items were originally stored in a secure location.

“The building is alarmed,” Winston said. “The stuff that was taken was also very secure.”

Winston declined to reveal further details due to the ongoing police investigation.

Several windows in the English Department were also broken during a second incident later that weekend. However, no items were taken from the building, Winston said.

“Sometime between late Saturday night and the next morning, there were two or three other broken windows, I believe out in the 200 building,” Winston said. “I don’t think anything was stolen, just that the windows were busted.”
