Freshman Julia Saul solidly pitched for the entire game against Fremont High School. Head Coach Tim Anderson noted steady improvement, especially after what he considered Saul’s greatest pitching performance of her career on Friday at the Charlie Miguel Invitational Tournament.

With its stellar defensive performance, the Palo Alto High School (3-4-0, 6-13-0) softball team refused to give up a single run to Fremont High School (1-6-0, 5-14-0), winning today’s home game 3-0.
“If I had to rate our defense, I’d give it an A plus,” head coach Tim Anderson said.
The Vikings’ two freshman players, pitcher Julia Saul and infielder Hannah Bundy, contributed to much of the game’s success.
Saul took steady control of the pitching mound for the entire game. Anderson said that Saul pitched the best game of her career Friday night at the Charlie Miguel Invitational Tournament.
With her strong hold on the infield, Bundy never let a Fremont batter pass third to reach home base.
“Julia is getting better and better,” Anderson said. “And Bundy has the chance to be a super star.”
The Vikings scored their first two runs in the second inning while senior Mariah Phillips stole another point with a daring play in the fifth inning when she slid into home base a split second before the ball did.
