The Palo Alto High School Filmmaking Club will be hosting open auditions this Friday for an upcoming film project, according to the club’s president and founder, senior Colin Marchon.
Auditions will be held during lunch on Friday in the video production room, A1, located between the English and History buildings.
“We need a lead boy and a lead girl, as well as two adults to play as parents, and about a dozen extras,” Marchon said, adding that the adult roles could be played by older-looking students as well.
According to Marchon, no acting experience is necessary, and all students are encouraged to attend auditions. “Really, the more people the better,” Marchon said. “If anyone wants to come, I would be happy for there to be more people in the production.”
Marchon described the movie as a “dark comedy” about an “intelligently cruel teenage girl who steals the identity of a boy at her school to lead a better life with a nicer and more generous family by dressing and acting like a boy,” Marchon explained. “Meanwhile, the real boy is tied in her basement and her parents are searching for her in Columbia.”
After the film is finished, it will be screened along with two other movies at the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre.
