Amid relentless rain and chilling temperatures, the Palo Alto High School football team (11-0) emerged victorious over Archbishop Mitty tonight at Paly’s Hod Ray field. The first round Central Coast Section playoff game was filled with apprehension and the Vikings trailed the Monarchs, 7-6, at the start of the fourth quarter. Things looked even more grim when the Monarchs kicked a field goal halfway through and the Vikings struggled to close the four-point gap.
Facing a fourth and goal with the season hanging in the balance and less than a minute remaining, senior quarterback Christoph Bono threw a heart-stopping 21-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Davante Adams.
