Hine: Hi Paly, this is Meg Hine of The Paly Voice, bringing you the latest news from campus for the week of September 13-17.

The Academic Resource Center has implemented new policies to improve the student tutoring system. Starting this year, every tutor and tutee pair will receive a progress folder, and after every tutoring session, the tutee will need to fill out a form recording what they worked on in the session.

After three days of voting, the freshman class has elected its president for the 2010-11 school year. Alex Hammer was revealed to be the new freshmen class president after voting from Wednesday to Friday last week on the quad, defeating Parker Devine. Devine was appointed freshmen class vice president following the elections.

Crowding at the bike racks is a continuing problem, but the addition of four new racks should help alleviate the overcrowding. The Paly administration expects to have four new bike racks in place within a month, creating a total of twenty more loops for students to lock bikes to, with more to follow later.

In sports, the football team struggled to a 21-9 win over Burlingame High School last Friday night in Burlingame.

In water polo, the girls’ team won 9-5 and the boys’ team won 9-6, both against Los Gatos High School on Tuesday night at Los Gatos.

The varsity volleyball team continued its undefeated streak with a three-game win against crosstown rival Gunn High School on Tuesday night at home.

Finally, the girl’s tennis team lost to Lynbrook High School, 3-4, on Tuesday, at Paly.

In other news, this upcoming Monday, Sept. 20, will be a block day with odd periods to accommodate a special schedule. Friday’s schedule will feature all seven periods and a 90-minute lunch for Club Day.
