Halfway into seventh period, a faulty smoke detector in the Blackbox Theater set off the fire alarm at approximately 1:40 p.m. today, according to Assistant Principal Jerry Berkson.

The fire alarm interrupted several final exams, including that of math teacher Deanna Chute’s Pre-calculus A class.

“I’m waiting to see how long it takes, and we’ll go moment-to-moment,” Chute said immediately after the all-clear was signaled. “We’ll wait until we get back..I don’t love it [the alarm] but I’ll deal with it.”

According to Berkson, maintenance is currently attending to the smoke detector.
