ASB announces 2009-2010 election results

The Paly student body has chosen its Associated Student Body leadership team for the 2009-2010 school year, after three days of voting. Paly’s new ASB president will be sophomore Kevin Ward.

Sophomores claimed every major ASB position, as George Brown will be ASB vice president, Sam Greene will become ASB treasurer and Chirag Krishna will be ASB secretary. Junior Wyatt Shaw will become sports commissioner and the two social commissioners are juniors Trevor Loveless and Hannah Brody.

“I’m pretty excited [to get elected] and I think I have a lot of great leaders around me and hopefully next year we’ll be able to get a lot done in ASB to improve the school,” Vice President-elect George Brown said.

In the senior class elections, voters named junior Charlie Lin as president and junior Ethan Plant as vice president.

“It feels good to be elected and for next year I want to make sure I adhere to what the new senior class wants and make sure everyone’s voice is heard,” Plant said.

For the junior class, sophomores Jack Smale and John Brunett will be class president and vice president, respectively. The sophomore class president for next year will be freshman Uma Veerappan, and the vice president will be freshman Maddie Kuppe.

The new crop of ASB leaders is very hopeful for the future and especially excited to see what their new president can do.

“I think he [Kevin Ward] is very motivated to move Paly forward,” Plant said. “He has a lot of good ideas and it will just be a matter of what he can get done.”

Brown, who served as sophomore president this year, sees ways to improve ASB next year.

“Overall, I hope to accomplish a more cohesive ASB and hopefully we can work together instead of having individuals in charge of projects,” Brown said.
