Author and comedian Brian Copeland will speak about his recently published book at 7 p.m. tonight, in the Haymarket Theatre.
Originally scheduled to visit Paly in January, Copeland had to cancel due to illness, according to Paly Librarian Rachel Kellerman.
Copeland’s memoir, Not a Genuine Black Man, published in 2006, describes the discrimination he and his family experienced while they lived in San Leandro, Calif., which was a predominantly Caucasian community during Copeland’s childhood.
“The Palo Alto Public Library added his visit to their Spring Author Series,” Kellerman said. “His book about identity and race and feeling comfortable with who you are resonates with high school students as they are on their own journey of discovery. We have a number of copies in the library.”

Admission is free and open to the public.
