Paly to have Second Spirit Week

Underclassmen will have the chance to face off against upperclassmen during Spring Fever, Paly’s second Spirit Week, which will take place from May 19-22.

Paly spirit commissioners senior Lucy McComas and junior Olivia Diamond decided to start a second Spirit Week at Paly after receiving many requests to do so from students.

“ASB (Associated Student Body) had received a lot of requests for another Spirit Week and we decided it was time to bring out even more Paly spirit for the spring,” Diamond said. “We decided to call it Spring Fever because basically everyone is starting to have spring fever so this should be a good way to release some of that extra spring and summer energy.”

Spring Fever will be on a much smaller scale than the customary Spirit Week that takes place every fall. There will be no floats, dances, or before and after-school rallies. There will be lunch-time activities and dress-up days.

According to Director of Student Activities, Allison Davies-Mullins, ASB originally wanted to have Spring Fever in April, but Ed Council did not want it to be a completely separate event. Instead it decided that Spring Fever would take place during the week of May 19 and culminate in Field Day.

Each day of Spring Fever has a dress-up theme and lunch activities. On May 19, the underclassmen will dress in 70s attire while the upperclassmen will dress in 80s clothes. On May 20, the underclassmen will dress as Gunn students and the upperclassmen will dress in Paly attire. On May 21, the underclassmen will dress as hillbillies and the upperclassmen will dress as country club members. On the last day, May 22, the underclassmen will dress in white and the upperclassmen will dress in green.
