Paly’s varsity girls’ lacrosse team (5-0) defeated Burlingame, 8-7, on Friday night to move into first place in the West Bay Athletic League.
The game was a highly contested battle, but players like junior attacker Brianna Boyd gave Paly the edge.
Boyd scored three goals, none more important than the final goal that gave the Vikings the momentum to finish the game with a victory.
Senior co-captains Helene Zahoudanis and Caroline Lucas-Conwell added two goals each, while junior Emily Fowler scored one.
The Vikings are riding high after an abysmal 4-12 inaugural season last year.
“It feels great to be doing so well especially because of the low expectations people had for us this season,” junior center Maya Fielder said.
As this game was its first loss, Burlingame (3-1, 6-1) dropped out of first place in WBAL.
The Vikings’ next game will be at 4 p.m. on March 30 at St. Ignatius High School.
