Site Council to consider applicants for School Improvement Program funds

Applications to receive 2009-2010 School Improvement Program funds are due at 3 p.m. on April 8.

In the past, these funds were used “to support innovative programs that benefit large numbers of students,” Site Council Coordinator Edie Miller said.

Past beneficiaries have included the library, Camp Everytown, the Interior Design and Living Skills classes, Poet in Residence, Playwright in Residence and staff development, according to Miller.

After the state provides categorical funds like the School Improvement Program funds to all districts, the Palo Alto Unified School District will allocate the funds to each school based on enrollment, according to Edie Miller.

Proposals should ideally address specific school plan goals, site or department plans and provide time-frames for establishing projects, according to Miller.

Completed applications can be sent via e-mail to Edie Miller at [email protected] or submitted in the Site Council mailbox in the main office of Paly’s tower building.

Site Council will consider and notify all applicants of its final decision by May 30.
