Bastidas: Hi Paly, this is Anna Bastidas and Vienna Tran of The Paly Voice bringing you the latest news from the Paly campus in the week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 6 in our second weekly update.

Tran: Principal Jacqueline McEvoy announced Thursday in a meeting with ASB that every student attending prom will be required to take a charter bus to and from the dance. McEvoy says that the PTA Executive Board and Site Council asked her to make this decision. See the story here.

Bastidas: Paly’s photography program is holding a fundraiser by collecting old hand-held electronics to be recycled. Bring your donations to room 101 or the main office. The fundraiser ends at the beginning of March. See the story here.

Tran: In sports news, Paly’s boys basketball lost to Los Altos, 52-46. See the story here.The girls’ basketball team was more successful against Saratoga, leaving the court with a 45-44 victory. For soccer, boys beat Fremont, 5-0, on Wednesday. See the story here. And girls’ soccer beat Cupertino, 2-0, on Wednesday.

Bastidas: According to Palo Alto Partners in Education board member Mandy Lowell, an anonymous group of families have agreed to match any donations made to Palo Alto Partners in Education between now and Feb. 12. See the story here. If the Partners in Education cannot raise six hundred thousand dollars, then Paly’s college and career center will face cuts. See the story here.

Tran: The Model Citizen’s second fashion show is tomorrow, Feb. 7. It begins at 4 p.m. in the Quad. Proceeds will go to PlayPumps International. Paly bands Furious George, Tricky Zipper, and Cosmic Funk will provide music and Whole Foods and Duece France will provide refreshments. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Bastidas: The Millard Fillmore Trivia Hunt begins tonight. Vienna and I are club co-presidents, as well as Voice editor-in-chief Michael Bloch. We are meeting at 7 p.m. at the Paly library to begin our research for the competition. See the story here.

Tran: We would like to wish Paly’s mock trial team best of luck as they participate in the Constitutional Rights Foundation’s county tournament both this week and next week. See the story here.
