Fifty-three turkeys, 1000 slices of pie, and countless pounds of stuffing were consumed during the fourth annual Turkey Trot, organized by the Parent Teacher Student Association as a fund raiser for Ecumenical.
Students brought $5 or three cans and $2 to purchase the scrumptious fare. The leftover food will be donated to Urban Ministries, and the profit and cans will be given to the Ecumenical Hunger Program.
Last year $1000 was raised for EHP, according to Turkey Trot co-chair Anne Stewart.
In addition to raising money for charity, the Turkey Trot also provided students with a chance to relax and celebrate the holidays. Students expressed enthusiasm about the food provided during the Turkey Trot.
“I have a lot of experience in eating, and this [food] is some of the best I’ve ever had,” junior Ben Brown said. “It’s good practice for Thanksgiving.”
During the event, the Paly jazz band also gave its first non-concert performance of the year. Band members expressed excitement about the opportunity to play before the school.
“It was an exhilarating and uplifting musical experience,” junior band member Will Kern said.
