Mock trial team to compete in County finals

Paly’s mock trial team has made it to the County finals and will compete tonight against Prospect High School in the final round of competition that determines which school will claim the title of County Champion.

Two consecutive victories against Archbishop Mitty 328-307 during the quarterfinal round, which took place Feb. 26, and a semifinal victory against Los Altos 244-238 on Feb. 27 resulted in Paly’s advance to the finals.

“I am so proud of the team because so many of us were new this year and we have still gotten so far,” junior Hannah Miller said. “The seniors this year have done an amazing job teaching us and leading the team.”

The team’s lack of experience did not hinder its performance and many of the team members attribute this to senior and team captain Andrew Nizamian’s leadership.

“Andrew has been amazing this year,” junior Ian Wilson said. “He has done everything you would expect from a top team member and an attorney coach.”

If Paly wins tonight, the team will advance to the State tournament in Riverside that will take place during spring break.
