Paly’s mock trial team will enter the quarterfinal round with an undefeated record. Paly’s 253-243 triumph over Valley Christian High School last Wednesday gave it its fourth consecutive victory in its league competition.
Paly’s prosecution beat Archbishop Mitty’s defense 253-245 earlier this year and now Paly’s defense will face off against Mitty’s prosecution on Feb. 26 for the quarterfinals.
“Hopefully we can beat Mitty again, but the teams that make it to the semifinals will be really tough to beat,” junior Yelly Bitton said. “It’s a really big accomplishment to have done this well so far because this is a rebuilding year.”
Whether the prosecution or defense will compete in the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, is usually decided by a coin toss; Paly and Mitty’s have already competed, it was unnecessary for this round.
The tournament will continue next week, with the semifinals on Feb. 27 and the finals on Feb. 28 in San Jose.(Directions)
