The “Viking Shoppe,” a student activities store online, is currently up and running. Paly’s Associated Student Body created it to sell school related tickets, tests, and gear with a credit card.

Currently only Homecoming tickets can be bought on the site, but it will grow to include tickets for other dances, AP tests, PSATs, SATs, paly gear, ASB cards, and yearbooks according to Jonathan Shan. The site allows students to make purchases online with a credit card and then pick up the physical aspect of the purchase at an express line at school. Students can also make donations on this site to The Paly Voice.

“We think it’s going to be pretty big for prom,” said student activities director Allison Mullins, “Prom is a big expense and people like to have big expenses on their credit cards.”

ASB Tech communications officer Jonathan Shan and ASB treasurer Bowen Wang, along with auditor Julia Sing, came up with the idea two months ago and have been working on getting the site up and running for the past three weeks. They successfully put up The Viking Shoppe last Friday in time to sell Homecoming tickets on it.

“Ms. Sing felt that we needed to make it more convenient for students to buy tickets, and this site streamlines that process” said ASB Tech communications officer Jonathan Shan.

Student opinions on the shop are mixed but most agree that it is useful.

“I think it was smart to make an online shop for Paly and it will be nice to not have to wait in long lines anymore, but I also think that they could have done perfectly fine without it.” junior Sarah Nordman said.

To make purchases at the Viking Shoppe, students need to know their student ID number for their login. The process is simple and self explanatory with easy-to-follow steps. The sales on the site are final and will not be refunded. Discover, Visa, and MasterCard are all accepted.
