Palo Alto High School seniors gathered early Monday morning for senior sunrise, an annual tradition in which 12th graders gather to watch the sunrise, marking the beginning of their final year at Paly. The Paly Voice asked students what they thought of senior sunrise.

“It [senior sunrise] was a little earlier than I’d like to wake up, but I think it was really nice to have the opportunity to meet as a whole class and have that experience together, watching the sun rise on a new year.” – Rei Prior, 12th grade |

“It [senior sunrise] was pretty good,[[period or em dash, two independent clauses (i love me dashes if you couldn’t tell)]] we got to socialize with some of the senior class; definitely a little tiring though cause I’m almost passed out right now. … Some people even slept through the night, which builds that comradery[[spelling]] in the senior class.” – Liam Li, 12th grade |

“The sunrise aspect of it [senior sunrise][[i don’t think these brackets are necessary]] was kind of underwhelming. Because of the trees, you couldn’t really see the sun at all, so it was just night and then day,[[period then capitalize ‘but’]] but it was fun to spend some time with my friends.” – Elsa Lagerblad, 12th grade |

“When I woke up, I was like ‘why do I need to go [to senior sunrise][[?]]’, because [[remove becuase]] I told my friends I was gonna [[going to]] go … but I was kind of regretting it. But then I went[[,]] and it was really fun [[em dash]]and the cinnamon rolls were really good.” – Juli Spreckelmeyer, 12th grade |
