Paly student finds new home after closing of the Caravan House

After the closing of the Caravan house, sponsored by ACS in downtown Palo Alto, Paly student Raven Warren will be living with her stepmother and her brother in Cupertino. The Paly Voice recently featured a story on the Caravan House, a house for young women which announced its closing a couple weeks ago.

Raven Warren lived in the Caravan House for three years and three weeks before its closing on March 1, she was told she had to find a new place to live.

“It wasn’t that hard this time for me to find a home quickly,” Warren said. “I was fortunate to have my step mother come through with letting me stay at her house close to the closing of Caravan.”

Warren expressed feelings of hurt and anger over the closing of the house.

“I am mainly upset not because they [ACS] uprooted the only home I have, but they have uprooted a great home for potential clients,” Warren said.

While she has settled into a somewhat stable home, other girls from the Caravan house were not so fortunate.

“I do plan to stay in touch with the other girls, but it’s going to be hard,” Warren said. “One of the girls has moved to a place that only has three weeks left, and then she is moving again.” She also stated that without some of the privileges that the house gave them, like use of a phone, she will have a hard time talking to the other girls.

Warren is hopeful that her current location will be permanent, but “we will have to see,” she said. “I have begun to base everything just on hopes.”
