Paly’s athletic track will be opening on Monday after a week of minor renovations. Five spots on the track were replaced with new rubber in time for the upcoming track season.

“It [the track] is much safer and better for athletes to run on now,” Earl Hansen, head of Paly’s athletic department said.

The track was also burnt and cracked in other spots, according to Hansen. In addition to making repairs, the track has also been repainted.

The repairs were scheduled for this past week so as not to interfere with sports schedules.

The company that installed the track five years ago recommended track maintenance every two years, however the recent renovation is the first maintenance so far.

Although work on the track is finished, due to the cold weather, Hansen has closed it until Monday in order for the new paint to dry completely.

Hansen feels pleased with the result of the renovation process.

“[They] did a great job, [The track] looks great!”
