In recent years, months, and weeks, immigration has become a major issue in both politics and society. The Paly Voice asked students on campus what they thought about this controversial issue.
"I don’t pay much attention to the issue. I think it’s fine where it stands now." — Tim Crown, sophomore
"I think people need to learn more about the issue. Otherwise, they won’t know what they are talking about." — Laura Park, senior
"I find it ironic that in times of crisis, immigrants are often targeted even though they remain a fabric of American society. I also feel that too much emphasis has been placed on securing the Mexican border and not on the Canadian border." — Katya Villalobos, assistant principal
"Everyone else comes to this country legally. I think that the ones who are already here can stay, but they shouldn’t complain." — Robert Tian, junior
"I’m pro-immigration because it helps families who just want better opportunities." — Amir Shahhosseini, senior
"The government is trying to make it a felony to illegally be in America. That’s ridiculous. Immigrants are just trying to create a better life for their families. We should be helping them, not hurting them." — Mia Lattanzi, sophomore
"I think President Bush should shut up and let people cross the border. It’s a free country." — Raven Warren and Chloe Lettice, sophomores
"It’s a complicated issue. There are really no easy solutions to the problem." — Kevin Duffy, teacher
