Varsity boys basketball game live scores: March 17: Paly vs Mater Dei

The Paly Voice proudly presents live scores from the boys varsity basketball State Finals game against Mater Dei on March 17.

The scoreboard will refresh automatically every 30 seconds. There is no need to repeatedly click "refresh".

The Vikings (31-1) hope to finish the season with a state title over Santa Ana’s Mater Dei (33-2), which easily defeated Villa Park 84-67 in the SoCal Finals on March 11. The Vikings’ Brad Lehman hit two three-pointers late in the game to help the Vikings overcome a 14-point first quarter deficit to win, 45-43. The Monarchs average close to 80 points per game thanks to their overwhleming size. With eight players at or taller than 6’7", the Monarchs have a huge advantage over the Vikings whose tallest player is 6’6". The Monarchs are led by Arizona bound 7’1" junior Alex Jacobson and Duke bound 6’7" junior Taylor King. The Vikings last won the state title in 1993 when they went 31-0. This is the Monarchs ninth trip to the finals. Last year, the Monarchs lost in the state finals to Oak Ridge, who earlier beat the Viking 55-35 in last year’s NorCal finals.

Tip-off will be approximately 8 p.m. at Arco Arena in Sacramento. The game will also be televised on Fox Sports Net Bay Area.
