The Paly Voice staff received new camera equipment, including a new lens, flash and camera bag, from the PTSA on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
“I think it’s awesome that the PTSA donated to Voice,” editor-in-chief senior Elena Marinelli said. “I appreciate their generosity and I know that the rest of Voice does as well, especially our photographers.”
Last year, Paul Kandell, The Paly Voice‘s advisor, requested a grant from the PTSA after consulting with Voice photographer and current editor-in-chief, senior Nathan Lui.
“It’s nice to know that we will actually get decent pictures,” Lui said.
According to Lui, the old camera de-magnified objects and the flash was weak, making it more difficult to take good pictures. The new camera will become especially useful for taking photos during future indoor sports events like basketball games, as well as in the last few football games of the season, according to Lui.
“You’d think [that] under lights, it’d be bright, but it’s actually dark,” Lui said.
Marinelli adds, “I know that our sports photo essays will be a lot crisper now.”
With this new equipment, better quality photos will be on Voice, so we thank you, PTSA!
