In light of The Paly Voice‘s recent winning of the Webby Award and People’s Choice Award in the “student” category, the staff wishes to thank our supporters for their votes, their readership and their loyalty.
It has been a long year, filled with troubles (getting hacked by a Portugese political group) and victories (winning the NSPA Online Pacemaker), and we could never have achieved as much as we did without the help of all the members of the Voice community.
First of all, we would like to thank our advisor, Paul Kandell. He has been the father-figure to our staff of hyperactive and highly opinionated teenagers. His dedication is unparalleled, and at times of questionable sanity. Without his large-scale advertising efforts and infuriating demands to post new content, the Voice would probably revel in mediocrity (minus the People’s Choice Award, of course).
Second, our thanks go out to The Campanile, Verde, and In Focus staffs and advisors, Esther Wojcicki, Paul Kandell, and Mike McNulty. Without your support and generous content contributions, the Voice would not be the vibrant and diverse publication that it is. This award is not just for the Voice; it is a tribute to the excellence and hard work of all Paly publications.
Third, many thanks go out to the PTSA, the PAUSD Board of Education, and their members for advertising and recognizing the Voice. (Thanks, PTSA, for the balloons!) It is a great honor to get feedback and compliments from such important members of our target audience.
We would also like to thank our many readers and supporters who have contributed feedback, content, snacks for the staff and hits. To those 20,000 visitors who routinely visit the Voice every month, thank you. You make our jobs worthwhile.
