On April 14, the president of the Palo Alto Council of Parent-Teacher Associations presented a resolution opposing any laws or amendments to the United States Constitution defining marriage as a "union between a man and a woman."
The statement reads as follows:
WHEREAS Every child, regardless of sexual orientation, deserves the right to look forward to participating in the recognized, protected and privileged state of marriage with the person of their choosing and
WHEREAS Every kind of family deserves the legal recognition, protections and privileges accorded married couples, now be it
RESOLVED That the Palo Alto Council of PTAs opposes any law or constitutional amendment which proposes to define and protect “marriage” solely as a union between a man and a woman as husband and wife and be it further
RESOLVED That the Palo Alto Council of PTAs will forward this resolution to the California State PTA and National PTA and encourage their support.
