With election day coming up Tuesday, the State Assembly race sees two former attorneys campaigning to next represent the 24th district of California.
The candidates, Marc Berman and Vicki Veenker, are pushing to replace retiring assemblyman Rich Gordon, who will be stepping down after six years.
In an attempt to hear the candidates’ thoughts on certain issues affecting the 24th District, The Paly Voice sat down to interview both.
Despite having similar ideas on many topics, both Berman and Veenker have focused on different issues in their respective campaigns.
According to Berman, a Palo Alto High School alum, an attorney by training and current Palo Alto City Council member, he plans on focusing on improving education, making housing more affordable and fixing the infrastructure.
On the other hand, according to Veenker, a Palo Alto High School parent and fellow attorney by training, she plans on limiting greenhouse gases to protect the environment, protecting the water supply and increasing education funding.
With the Nov. 8 election day coming up soon, citizens will be casting their ballots. Not sure who to vote for? Check out these profiles on both candidates’ positions to help make your decision.
