This custom, in which players take turns “sabotaging” their teammates’ hairdos, distinguishes varsity soccer players from the rest of the students, according to senior defender Kirby Gee. No matter how humiliating or self-deprecating, the haircuts are seen as fun and can serve as a team-bonding experience.
