TONE 4.28.22: Stanford Nurse Strike, AP Tests Delayed

Ho: and we’ll be recapping this week’s events in this week’s episode of The Paly Voice TONE. The Campanile reported Tuesday on the recent strike of Stanford nurses. The strike, which began Monday, was the result of disagreements over newly proposed contracts for hospital employees.
Ghereghlou: The Paly Voice reported on last week’s March and Earth Day rally which took place in downtown Palo Alto. Local students and community leaders in the Bay Area marched and chanted together, and the rally featured speeches from lawmakers including Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, State Assemblyman Mark Berman, and Palo Alto mayor, Pat Burt.
Ho: The Paly Voice reported that some students have AP test dates delayed due to proctoring capacity limitations. Assistant principal Jerry Burson said that the pending relocation of Paly administration had restricted available testing spaces.
Ghereghlou: According to The Campanile, the fire department launched its fire med program, a subscription-based program that covers participants in the event of a medical emergency.
Ho: The Voice reported on the Paly dance teams’ preparations for the spring show and discussed the process of getting students prepared for the upcoming show. The Spring Dance Show will be presented on Saturday, April 30 at 7 pm. Tickets are $5 for Paly students and $10 for adults.
Ghereghlou: An article by Verde Magazine featured traditional Japanese drum performances called Taiko. Bay Area Taiko Program members discuss the emotional connection they have to the performances they work on and hope to reach more community members in the future.
Ho: Santa Clara county code cases are 316.6 thousand, and 7-day case averages are at 315. At Paly cases are up substantially with a total of 203, up 20 from last week. There are also three new teacher cases this week.
