![Junior Hannah Oh, who recently verbally committed to Brown University for swimming, cuts through the water during the Central Coast Section Swimming Championship at Independence High School. Oh said the community she was surrounded by helped her progress and improve. “I grew up with everyone that's part of the [swimming] community, and I also go to school with everyone that's part of that community,” Oh said. “It makes up a lot of who I am, because it includes my school friends, some of my best friends, and they're also kids that I've known for so long that have pushed me and helped me grow into who I am today.”](https://palyvoice.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/DSC04851-1200x900.jpg)
