The Palo Alto High School administration will install new bike racks around campus by the end of this month in an effort to alleviate bicycle parking woes.
The placement of the new bike racks has yet to be determined, according to assistant principal Jerry Berkson.
“It’s really just a matter of picking and choosing places where we can put [them],” Berkson said.
A lack of sufficient bicycle parking has created crowding problems for students this year. Nonetheless, freshman Eric Whitson has found ways to beat the crowd in the morning.
“The main bike cage is so crowded in the morning that I’m forced to lock my bike on the fence near the big gym,” Whitson said.
According to Berkson, the racks are custom made and are in the midst of the manufacturing process.
Previously, the Paly administration added bike racks during the first semester of last year.
