Paly students are hosting a spring dance at Club Illusions this Friday from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Money raised from the dance will benefit Not in Our School week. NIOS is a national organization working to end discrimination on campuses.
Contrary to popular belief, the Gay-Straight Alliance club is not organizing this dance.
“The GSA is not hosting this dance,” the host of the dance, senior Adi Katz said. “No school club is hosting the dance. It is individually hosted. I just happen to be the president of the GSA on campus as well.”
The theme for the dance is rainbow because it works for spring and the NIOS cause, according to Katz.
“It works for NIOS because that focuses a lot on homophobic discrimination and the rainbow flag ties in with that, and it’s also just a fun and easy theme to dress to,” Katz said
There was some discussion when deciding which venue would be most appropriate for the dance, according to Katz.
“Club Illusions is super supportive and helpful to teens so they’ve [collaborators from Club Illusions] been great,” said Katz. “After meeting with a few different venue managers, I settled on Illusions. My goal is to have a great time and raise as much money as possible for a great cause.”
Tickets are $20 and can still be purchased from seniors Caleb Jones, Katz or Sarah Synnestvedt.
