The Town and Country Books Inc. will hold its second annual library fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10.
Eric Peterson, the manager of Books Inc., extended an offer for every school in Palo Alto Unified School District to hold a three-hour shopping event at the store, according to Paly Librarian Rachel Kellerman.
“In these three hours, the library would get 20 percent of total sales, including gift cards,” Kellerman said. “This is very unusual because most retail establishments have limits on what they’ll give up the 20 percent off on, but they are giving it to us for everything.”
Green and white balloons and cookies will help attract the public to the event, according to Kellerman.
“I am going to wear my Viking hat,” Kellerman said.
Kellerman hopes the fundraiser this year will raise more money the Books Inc. event last year
“Last year, we did it [held a shopping event at Books Inc.] on a Sunday night,” Kellerman said. “It was raining. We only made $800. My goal for this year is to make over a thousand dollars.”
Kellerman plans to use the money raised at the fundraiser to support the Paly book club and other necessary books for the library.
“I take the money [made] in a gift card and use that to buy books for the book club or other books students need,” Kellerman said.
Editor’s Note: The story was corrected to state that the event would occur on Dec. 10, not Dec. 9.
