The Paly boys’ track team has secured itself a 3-2 season record after overtaking the Los Gatos Wildcats on Thursday, 79-48.
A notable performance came from senior Paul Brown, who ran personal records in the 200-meter and 400-meter runs with times of 22.85 seconds and 50.97 seconds, respectively, according to boys’ head coach Jason Fung.
Also, junior Philip MacQuitty achieved a personal record in the 800-meter event with a time of 1 minute, 55 seconds.
In the 3200-meter run, senior Skyler Cummins and MacQuitty paced junior Josh Newby to break the 10-minute mark. Newby finished and won the race in 9 minutes, 59.7 seconds.
The team’s next meet will be against Gunn High School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Paly track.
Fung expects this meet to be a challenge for the Vikings.
“There’s nothing to laugh at about Gunn,” Fung said. “They have sprinters and runners and jumpers; our best sprinter hasn’t beat their best sprinter yet. We should do fine, but the [Paly] kids need to step up to take the second and third places rather than just taking thirds.”
