After a successful test run on Friday, Palo Alto High School’s Associated Student Body officers say they hope to do more schoolwide lip dubs in future years.
The Paly lip dub — a music video that features students lip syncing to a song — was used to exhibit campus groups in a fun, energetic, and collaborative way, and was filmed around the Quad.
Emily Tang, junior class vice president, said the purpose of the lip dub was to acknowledge the different aspects of Paly’s student life.
“We have so many well established organizations like publications, speech and debate and robotics,” Tang said. “They’re all so well-accredited and we just want to celebrate everything Paly has to offer.”
According to Spirit Commissioner Arabella Guinle, ASB chose to film the lip dub during Spring Spirit Week to boost school spirit and increase student involvement.
“Our goal was to do it during Spring Spirit Week because we wanted, mainly me as spirit commissioner, Spring Spirit Week to get more participation,” Guinle said. “Through lip dub and getting people to dress up for the video with green and white, we hoped that it’d bring more participation.”
According to ASB Director Alyssa Bond, organizing the lip dub required flexibility and collaboration from both staff and students to make the production run smoothly.
“Admin graciously allowed us to switch the schedule for the week to accommodate featuring as many groups and students as possible,” Bond said before the event. “We also needed an experienced videographer and Gabe [Boudtchenko] is going to do an awesome job. Arabella and Emily also spent countless time planning the shot and route for the video.”
According to Tang, this year’s lip dub was more of a test run for coming years.
“It’s kind of like a learning experience this year and then next year we’d like to expand it and get even more groups across campus involved,” Tang said.
According to Guinle, the lip dub will be posted on the Paly ASB Instagram.

According to junior class Vice President Emily Tang, the lip dub is a great way to bring light to Paly's broad range of activities and student groups. "We [ASB] are super excited to have admin representing, a wide array of publications and also a few sports and clubs," Tang said.](https://palyvoice.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/IMG_5827-1200x900.jpg)
